Rhea County Adult Education

Welcome to the Rhea County Adult Education Program.

Rhea County is very fortunate that our adult education program is housed in the Dayton Skills Center. We are located on the second floor, offering everything from individualized tutoring, grouped classroom instruction to computer assisted training.

Our program offers instruction for non-English speaking individuals, non-readers, basic skills in reading and math, GED preparation, and remedial studies for those preparing to enter college.

Those persons seeking "English Speakers of Other Languages" (ESOL) classes may be able to choose between classes at our center or some onsite work locations. Our students seeking beginner reading skills are placed with tutors. Various training methods are used to introduce and develop these skills: audio tapes, computer programs, picture books and video instruction. Many non-readers seek guidance from us in order to obtain reading skills or increase present skills.

Acquiring the General Education Diploma is the most sought help from our program. We offer classes that prepare you for the GED and the Official Practice Test is offered at this location.

Our program is open to anyone seeking to improve his educational needs. Many agencies refer clients to us, but everyone is welcome. One of the strongest points of our program is the classroom atmosphere. Students can participate in studies with peers and an instructor without the threat of the consequences of failing. Each individual works at his own speed and level, knowing that help is but a raised hand away.

Many non-readers seek guidance from us in order to obtain reading skills or increase their present skills.

We offer one on one tutoring as well as classroom instruction and computer-assisted instruction. There are several options available through our computer labs from career assessment to academic evaluation to introductory computer skills.

Anyone seeking to continue their education is encouraged to contact our office and staff for help or advice. Everyone is welcome to come and pursue his desire for knowledge.
