What are GED Tests?

The GED Tests are designed to measure the skill and concepts generally associated with four years of regular high school instruction. The GED Test is a battery of five tests which can be administered only through an official GED Testing Center. The GED Tests provide an opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma in an alternative mode, a credential recognized as a key to educational and financial
awards.

Did you know....

GED graduates, on average, earn $2,040 more per year than high school dropouts?

GED graduates are more likely to be working full time than high school dropouts?

The wages of GED graduates grew at a faster rate after earning the credential?

Nearly 48% of Sequatchie County's adult population do not have a high school diploma?

Frequently asked questions about getting your GED or improving your skills.

How long will it take me to get a GED?

That depends on the current level of your reading or math skills, how far you went in taking high school courses and how many times a week you attend classes.

What about the GED?

When your teacher feels you are ready, we have a practice test you can take that will let you know if it is time to take the GED test.  The practice GED test covers writing skills, social studies, science, literature and math, just like the GED.

If I don't want a GED, can I just learn to read?

Yes.  Whether you are a nonreader of want to increase your reading skills, we can help.

Can you help me refresh my skills so that I may help my children?

Yes.  Educated parents have better educated children.  Earning a GED diploma isn't only an investment in yourself, it is an investment in the future of your children.

Can you teach me specific reading or math skills for my job?

Yes.  Let us know the areas with which you are having difficulties and we will help you with them.

What about college or vocations training?

A GED Diploma is accepted at most colleges and vocational schools across the country as proof that you have completed your high school education.  Some colleges even have special scholarship programs for GED graduates.
