Martha Brown Scholarship
The Tennessee Association for Adult and Community Education provides a scholarship in the amount of $1000 in memory of Ms. Martha Brown. This scholarship is available each year to a former student who received his/her GED diploma or their Adult High School Diploma. This one-time award is to be used for tuition, books, or room and board as needed. It is paid directly to the institution by TAACE. Test scores on the TABE test and letters of recommendation are taken into account. Applications must be received by April 30th of each year.

Scholarships to COABE
The Tennessee Association for Adult and Community Education provides six (6) Tennessee Adult Education instructors, from across the state, scholarship money to attend the Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE) National Conference. This annual meeting of COABE is held in a variety of cities in the United States and provides professional training in all areas of Adult Education. TAACE recognizes the importance of national training opportunities for the Adult Education instructors in Tennessee and provides this scholarship to TAACE members/instructors who meet the guidelines and are chosen. Instructors from each grand division of Tennessee--East, Middle and West are asked to apply for consideration. Guidelines generally include: membership in TAACE, instructor of Adult Education a minimum of five (5) years, the agreement to share information after the event locally or statewide, and the Adult Education supervisor's recommendation. Approved expenses not to exceed $1500 will be awarded. A person may only win the award one time but may apply every year until chosen. Applications are usually accepted and chosen during January or February of each year.
